Beautiful and candid piece, Milla. You have an incredible voice as a writer and admirable courage for sharing something so vulnerable. Of course, the piece is deeply personal, but the message of accepting and working on parts of yourself on your own terms is a resonant one.

Wow what an incredible piece that invites us into a vulnerable space. While she is unique in her experience she writes in a way that allows us all to connect and feel seen.

Dear Milla, thank you for sharing this piece about your own struggles with immersive daydreaming. You may be interested to know that I wrote about this subject and associated research for Scientific American in 2011.

As far as I can tell, it's quite a popular source (judging by the number of people who download it from my Academia page.)

With best wishes,

Thank you so much for reading the piece and for this recommendation. Your article is extremely illuminating and fascinating. Good to see people are researching and thinking about this subject; if I had seen anything online about it as a kid, I would have felt so reassured that I wasn’t alone.

I'm glad you find it helpful, Milla. I've written a number of articles about daydreaming, and FWIW I have daydreamed all my life.
